Constitutional Quizzo
Test your knowledge of the founding documents...
Quizzos are fun quizzes on a given topic, played by teams of up to six players. Four rounds of ten questions are given, and each team fills out an answer sheet. Rounds are scored and winners announced before the next round. You can double down if you think your round will score highly.
This Quizzo is sponsored by the Williamsport Tea Party so there is no entry fee. There will be a cash prize for the winning team, and other prizes donated by local businesses will be given by drawing. Several teams have been invited from local offices. Invited teams include the Lycoming County Commissioners, Mayor's office, Local Representatives, Republican and Democrat Party Headquarters.
Teams from the public are invited to join the fun. We will have a table set up outside the Genetti Hotel on Friday Aug 3rd. The Quizzo starts at 8pm in the Genetti Hotel Restaurant.
Several websites offer online constitutions. Click here for one of them. |

Audit the Fed Bill Passes the House
Ron Paul's Parting Shot...
Ron Paul wrote a book called "End the Fed" in 2009, was appointed to the House Banking Committee last year, and spoke out about the role the Fed has played in the ongoing financial crisis during his Presidential campaign. As a member of the Banking Committee he asked tough questions of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. Today his Audit the Fed bill easily passed in the House. It won't pass in the Senate or be signed by the President without enormous public pressure, but it has raised our awareness and made it much harder for more bailouts to happen, at least before the November election.
Because the Fed sets interest rates and controls the amount of money in the economy, they are in effect setting the cost of money. If everything you buy and all your income is priced in dollars, then the Fed is the all powerful Oz. The man behind the curtain. If he is allowed to continue behind closed doors, and with very little oversight, then we can expect more of the same.
The Fed also deliberately causes inflation as a matter of policy. Their target is 2% per year. Their performance since the Fed was created in 1913 is 95% inflation. This means that a dollar today will buy what a nickel bought in 1913. But the currency debasement by printing Federal Reserve Notes out of thin air is made all the worse by the fact that it is created as interest bearing debt that you and all other taxpayers are on the hook for. It doesn't have to be this way and wasn't until the Fed came along.
We thank Ron Paul for his effort to pull back the curtain. Now we need to elect some more "Tea Party" candidates to continue his work.

Public Sector Unions
Collective Bargaining and the Taxpayer...
Many states are having trouble balancing their budgets due to unrestrained spending during boom years with little put aside for the lean years. During good times state spending included generous contracts to the public sector unions. Few people cared or even noticed since there was little impact on our daily lives. But as reality sets in and states have to cut costs to equal reduced revenues, these contracts and the method of negotiating them is being reexamined.

Why Vote in the Primary?
Your choice, not the party's...
The problem is that those who seek power are usually not the people you would want to represent you. You want people who don't want power, but want to protect our opportunity society, based on individual liberty and limited government. People who will honor the Constitution. People with common sense.
Some good people are stepping forward in this election because they are shocked and saddened by the rapid loss of freedom and steady erosion of our Constitutional protections. These few have in effect sacrificed themselves to do whatever they can, while there is still time.

As the Supreme Court hears the arguments for and against Obamacare this week, our friends at Downsize DC have weighed in. They were invited to file an Amicus Brief, or "Friend of the Court" paper opposing the new law as unconstitutional. You can read it here.
Downsize DC is becoming a powerful voice advocating smaller government and the restoration of our Constitutional freedoms. You can join their effort and make your voice heard as well by visiting their website. You will find sample letters you can use or edit on a variety of subjects that are related to current legislation and needed reforms. Their Educate the Powerful System makes it easy to express your views to your Senators and Representative at no cost.
They do appreciate donations which are used to support their outstanding work. |
